My New Smile

So these last few days have been pretty eventful. On Tuesday Baby J had his first surgery! Things went great except we had to stay in the hospital for two nights because we could not get him to eat afterwards. I think it was a mixture between the drugs he was on and the whole awkwardness of not having a gap between his lips anymore.
Not going to lie I cried like a little baby when we were pulling up to OHSU and when we had to walk into the area to get him dressed in his little hospital gown, It didn't help that the cribs look like something out of a baby prison. I also cried when the anesthesiologist started talking about gassing him and breathing tubes. Oh and again when we had to hand him back to the operating room nurses. AND AGAIN while we waited for him to get out. Ha so I guess I cried quite a bit that day. Sad to see my little smile go.
Now that a few days have gone by though and his personality is coming back I'm beginning to be more relieved about the whole change. There isn't much going on with us since getting home from the hospital . He still takes his medicine every two hours and we have been just hanging out at home till he's back to his normal self. Other then a little extra crabbiness when the meds wear off he's pretty much back to normal.

All the pictures below that have his cleft still are from the Pre-Op appointment and the night before the surgery.

Showing off at the pre-op appointment.

Dont mind me. He had a cute smile in this one.

First Time Blogger

So I've never had a blog before and am not sure how exactly this works so bear with me...

I've decided to start a blog mostly so I can chart and keep track of all my little guys steps in his cleft journey but also to date his milestones as he gets older. I wish I would have started it right after he was born but better late then never.
Today is Sunday and we only have 2 days left till his first surgery.. I'm so not looking forward to it and thought that this would be a good way to remember exactly how I felt and to remember his lip the way god had made him. Crazy to think when he was first born we couldn't wait to figure out how and when we would be scheduling his first surgery and now here we are so close to the dooms day and I couldn't care less if we had to postpone it forever. (We wouldn't really but its wishful thinking)  So below is some favorite pictures and videos of the lip we first fell in love with. Starting from the birth to present day.
